Welcome to the Commonwealth Fraud Control Govspace – a reference point for information about combating fraud against the Commonwealth.
Fraud against the Commonwealth is an extremely serious matter. It prevents the taxpayer’s dollar from reaching its intended target, undermines confidence in the integrity of the Government and affects its ability to deliver key services. Between 2008 and 2010, Commonwealth agencies reported losses due to external fraud of more than $1 billion.
The Australian Government is committed to taking a systematic and stringent approach to preventing and detecting fraud against the Commonwealth.
This website was developed by the Attorney-General’s Department and the Australian Federal Police to: share information including:

- provide advice on how to report different kinds of fraud
- promote awareness of fraud against the Commonwealth in the public and APS staff
